On 25 September 2017, there will be a launch event of the results of the world’s first research into the experiences of LGBT+ members of the Bar. It is based on work undertaken in 2016: a survey with 126 LGBT+ barristers, QCs, pupils and BPTC students; and 37 linked interviews.

The launch will take place at 7pm at Fyvie Hall on Regent Street. The Rt. Hon. Maria Miller MP (Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee) will open the event. Dr Steven Vaughan and his co-author, Marc Mason (University of Westminster),  will then speak to the research results. Following the results, a panel, with representatives from the Bar Standards Board, FreeBar, BLAGG and 29 Bedford Row, will offer some short reflections on the outcomes of the research.

The event is free to attend and will be followed by a drinks reception, generously supported by 29 Bedford Rowand UCL’s Centre for Ethics and Law. Further information, directions to the venue, and details on how to sign-up can be found here: http://www.laws.ucl.ac.uk/event/sexuality-at-the-bar-an-empirical-exploration-into-the-experiences-of-lgbt-barristers-in-england-wales/
